Under the new UK immigration system, the most common visa open to Indian nationals is the Skilled Worker visa which applies to migrants with a job from a UK employer. Despite being called the Skilled Worker visa route, companies in the UK in the grocery sector have been using this route to sponsor store managers or shop keepers. Skilled Worker visas are also available to migrants who hold shares in the companies they wish to join. This allows candidates who wish to establish or buy a business in the UK to self-sponsor. The route offers the possibility of securing settlement in the UK after five years of residency.

Furthermore, many job roles that were previously not suitable for sponsorship have now been added to the approved list of sponsorship roles, allowing migrants from India much easier access to the UK jobs market.
There are also no longer limits on the number of Skilled Worker visas available.
Businesses wishing to expand into the UK can take advantage of Sole Representative visas under which a senior member of staff can travel to the UK to represent the organisation and establish an office. This route is open to any sort of business, from IT to building. Once the branch or subsidiary is established it can apply for a Skilled Worker Sponsor licence and start sponsoring overseas staff, including the Director or CEO of the overseas company. The route is designed to lead applicants to settlement after completing a continuous period of five years in the UK as a sole representative.
The much-publicised Global Talent visa is considered by many candidates as the golden ticket to the UK. It applies to those highly qualified in IT, science, engineering, and the arts and offers the opportunity for candidates to settle in the UK in three or five years.
Th e innovator visa is another relatively new visa route available for those who wish to set up and run a business in the UK which must be deemed as different from anything else on the market and endorsed by an approved body.
Finally, Investor visas are available to those with £2m to invest in the UK who meet the approved criteria. There is no English requirement to this route, and settlement can be obtained within three years.
